JLS to feature in Brit Awards 30th anniversary event
12th January 2010
The boys of JLS will be joining other big name acts – La Roux, Fearne Cotton – at this the Brit Awards’ 30th birthday celebrations this year.
28-year-old Cotton will be hosting the event, Metro reports, at 02’s Indigo club in London next Monday.
Besides JLS, who are on the verge of kicking off their first-ever headlining tour of the UK, the lineup is set to include Chris Moyles of Radio 1 and “Sweet About Me” songstress Gabriella Climi. La Roux and Pixie Lott will also be on hand to give performances, in addition to newcomer Ellie Goulding, who has been making headway as the year’s next big thing.
Goulding is set to receive this year’s Brit Awards Critic Choice award, and Robbie Williams (who last year was beat out for the No. 1 album by JLS) will reportedly be collecting the prize for outstanding contribution to music.
Chairman of the Brits committee, Ged Doherty, is quoted in the Metro as saying: “For the 30th Brits show we’re planning a landmark event that truly celebrates this occasion. The Brits is the UK’s – and Europe’s – premier music show and one of the biggest media events of the year. The show has seen many changes in recent years and I have no doubt we will continue to build on its spectacular success.”
After a year such as JLS had in 2009, it’s not surprising that they would be asked to help celebrate such a landmark event. Aston, JB, Marvin and Oritse scored two No. 1 hits in “Beat Again” and “Everybody in Love,” just before releasing their debut album to No. 1 chart status.
In 2010, the boys not only plan to release another collection of their unique R&B-fused pop tracks, but to complete two tours in the midst of writing and recording.
