JLS contribute to Haiti charity single

Aston, Marvin, Oriste and JB are teaming up with Simon Cowell in order to record a Haiti charity single. The X Factor judge and music mogul has also signed on Rod Stewart, Leona Lewis and Michael Buble for the fundraiser. Together, the pop superstars will be recording a cover of REM’s “Everybody Hurts.”
The Sun reports that a number of other acts – Robbie Williams, Coldplay, Take That and Paul McCartney – have been approached regarding the project. Other stars that are reportedly interested in adding their voices to the song include Will Young, Joe McElderry and N-Dubz.
Cowell is working with the newspaper in order to organize the fundraising track, and hopes to release the single later in the month. JLS are due to release One Shot soon but were only too happy to help a good cause.
“We are working hard to make this single a success and to raise lots of money for Helping Haiti,” Cowell said. “We have a short time to do this and the people in Haiti need as much help as we can possibly give them as soon as possible.
“I’d like to make this record with as many different types of singer as we can and I hope everyone in the industry comes together to get involved. The response has been fantastic.”
Founding JLS member Oriste Williams tragically lost family members due to the quake in Haiti, and the singer recently revealed that he had donated in order to help victims.
“I’ve got cousins who were killed in Haiti, and it’s terrible,” BBC News quotes the singer as saying. “It’s a country that’s been poverty-stricken for many years and for something like that to happen is absolutely tragic.”
