Aston on upcoming tours
18th January 2010
Even if the boys of JLS won’t be performing in the Granite City until their arena tour launches in December, fans are already looking forward to the boy band’s presence, according to Aberdeen’s Press & Journal.
JLS are the uncontested boy band of the moment, having established themselves last year with two No. 1 singles (“Beat Again” and “Everybody in Love” rocketed to the top of the charts) and a No. 1 debut album. Aston, JB, Marvin and Oritse are looking to have the same sort of success this year with a second album and two national tours. A third single, “One Shot,” is due out in February.
Aston told the paper: “The response has been incredible and we’re over the moon to be doing our very own arena tour at the end of 2010. It’s every singer’s dream to play huge audiences; it’s going to be spectacular and we can’t wait for all our supporters to see the show.”
The boys have played Aberdeen on more than one occasion, but Aston admits that the city holds fond memories for him: “Aberdeen will always be special to me as it was the first city in which I got chased in by female fans. I was chased along Union Street by a group of schoolgirls. Halfway down the street, I bumped into Eoghan Quigg and told him he better start running, too. The two of us ended running all the way back to our hotel without looking back. It was a bit manic and scary, but, since then, it has become quite a regular occurrence.”
The 21-year-old added: “I was always a quick runner, but I think I’m even faster now.”
JLS have had to adjust their lives to cope with fans who are often overzealous, but being in the limelight since age 14 has made things easier on Aston.
“I was in the kids’ version of the TV show Stars in their Eyes, when I appeared as Michael Jackson,” Aston said. “It’s quite funny, but I came in second in that show, too. That experience was useful, though, as I learned how to perform in front of the cameras, which meant I was able to pass on my knowledge to the other lads in the band.”
